Are You Lying to Yourself? The Cost of a 'Mistaken Identity'

Updated: Jun 15, 2023

From the get-go, we're taught to lie. If you're feeling ashamed or dishonest with yourself or others, don't kick yourself. You learned to do that, but the good news? We can unlearn and relearn.

The big idea behind my book is all about that process: learning why we act the way we do, unlearning harmful habits, and relearning healthier ones. What's your 'mistaken identity'? How's it mucking up your life, making you feel bad? We're going to tackle these questions in these daily tips.

Now, I was a liar. Grew up in a tough, violent, alcoholic family, and lying was my way to stay safe, to dodge trouble. Maybe you can relate. We watch adults lie, pick up the habit, and soon enough, we're lying to ourselves. And let me tell you, dishonesty's a heavyweight on your self-worth.

But it's not just about lying to others. We come up with alibis, excuses, rational lies that explain our actions. But these lies are poison, folks. They can make you sick—bring on anxiety, depression, mental health issues. Remember this: Truth is positive, and lies are negative. Truth feels good, lies feel bad.

I spent a good part of my life lying to hide my mistakes, to stop people from leaving me. I thought I was protecting myself, but I was only causing more harm. Lying erodes your self-worth, but the truth? It makes you feel relieved and confident.

If you're having a tough time, it's probably because of how you started out in life. You've got this 'mistaken identity' from your past, but my book's here to help you let it go. Stop trying to fix yourself and free yourself instead. You'll feel better about you, and your life will follow suit.

So, I urge you, get my book. It's not just a read; it's a guide, a system. Over 30 days, I'll take you through 30 simple principles with 30 simple action steps that can transform your life, and fast. Along with the book, I'll give you video lessons for each chapter and free live daily Q&A's and tips in my mentoring center.
